Katrina: Five Years of Reflection
Spruill Art Gallery, 2010
On August 28, 2005 Hurricane Katrina roared through the gulf coast devastating the states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Striking the City of New Orleans, this catastrophic storm caused unimaginable damage, requiring its evacuation. The ensuing systematic breakdown in our response to this crisis resulted in additional hardships and ultimately eroded our trust in the Government. KATRINA: Five Years of Reflection marks the anniversary of this tragic event and presents the work of several artists who lived through the disaster. Each artist has used his or her creative vision to process and distill this tragic event. Their work stands as an enduring record of the event, its aftermath and effect on the lives that it touched.
